Grindelwald spreads across green slopes beneath the Eiger, one of the most famous mountain faces in the Alps. It’s a real mountain village with hotels, chalets and apartments, and the gondolas start right from the valley.

Where to stay

  • Near the village station: shops, restaurants and the train to Interlaken.
  • Near Grindelwald Terminal: the Eiger Express gondola toward the Jungfraujoch.
  • On the slopes above the village: chalets with the best Eiger views, often with a short bus ride.

Ask for an Eiger-facing balcony: many Grindelwald hotels list “south-facing” or “Eiger view” rooms. Those are the ones to book.
